DAVID
MARTIN-PORRAS
David Martin-Porras is a Spanish filmmaker based in Los Angeles. In the last year three productions directed by David have been released in Spain: the sci-fi drama INVASION with Alvaro Rico (Elite), the comedy VINTAGE for the Catalan Public Network TV3 and the erotic rom com series WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? based on the best selling books by Megan Maxwell.

His most recent works also include the gay Christmas rom com SMILEY on Netflix and his first Spanish feature SKIN IN FLAMES with Óscar Jaenada (Luis Miguel on Netflix).
His short films THE WIDOW, ROUND TRIP and PORTRAIT OF A COUPLE have screened in more than 100 festivals (South by Southwest, Palm Springs, Malaga) and have won coveted honors such as the DGA Student Awards (Latino category) and the Student Academy Awards (National Finalist). His short film INSIDE THE BOX won more than 35 awards worldwide and was nominated to the 2016 Spanish Academy Awards.

David has directed two thrillers for Lifetime: UNWRITTEN OBSESSION and DANGER IN THE SPOTLIGHT. David also wrote and directed the independent psychological thriller CHAIN OF DEATH with Ray Wise (Robocop, Twin Peaks), John Patrick Amedori (Dear White People) and Madeline Zima (Californication) which is available on TUBI.
David was selected to be part of Film Independent’s Lab Project: Involve and is one of the episodic directors of the prestigious ABC/Disney Directing Program. David got his MFA in directing at UCLA.

David is also an educator. He has taught film directing at UCLA Extension and New York Film Academy and he is a mentor of young filmmakers at OUTFEST.
